A street fight breaks out after a neighbor sends residents a scathing Halloween note

A street war has broken out between a Halloween devotee and Christmas fans after an anonymous letter told residents to take down “inconsiderate” festive decorations.

The typed note was dropped into Queensland postboxes by someone quietly angry at the festive season dragging on early in the year – especially ahead of the American celebration of Halloween.

“Christmas is an enjoyable holiday for many people… but it has its place in December and that’s when it should be celebrated,” the letter said.

So enraged by the premature holiday cheer, the anonymous Grinch informed his neighbors to turn off their Christmas lights until after the spooky October tradition. 31.

“It’s Too Early for Christmas”

Beaudesert’s mom, Melanie Ryan, has several lights in her front yard and was one of the residents who received the notice.

The message said that Christmas was being “forced” on people too early and anyone with “Christmas” decorations should take them down until after Halloween.

mrs. Ryan said baby potshe was “disappointed and upset” when her nine-year-old son found the letter and read it to her.

“His first response was ‘who do these people think they are telling us what to do in our yard,'” Ms. Ryan said.

“He was clearly upset. We make lights every year to bring joy to everyone, he gives out candy, it upsets him to see someone so unhappy with the Christmas decorations.”

“I don’t think anyone is able to celebrate properly”

The anonymous letter addressed to, “residents of Beaudesert,” begins with the author saying that last Halloween they noticed that the houses had Christmas displays in October.

“I found this to be very inconsiderate of children and adults who really enjoy celebrating Halloween because it takes away from the holiday,” the letter said.

“I know not everyone celebrates Halloween, but for those who do, it’s a time of spooks, horror movies, and kids dressing up in scary trick-or-treating.

“I don’t think anyone is able to celebrate properly with Christmas owed to us early.”

The writer said that while Christmas is nice, “it belongs in December.”

“Even late November may be acceptable if you don’t observe Thanksgiving, but October is not the time and place for it,” they wrote.

It goes on to tell residents not to put up new lights until after October and if they have decorations, at least take down the Christmas ones.

“If you have your lights on, would you consider keeping them off during October so that everyone who loves Halloween can have some spooky fun.”

mrs. Ryan knew of three others who received the letter. One was a friend, so at first she thought it was a prank, but it wasn’t related to two local residents who took it – including an elderly man who’s been lighting up all year.

“I was going to write an answer for the Christmas station”

The exasperated mum shared the letter on a local Facebook group, calling the writer, “too gutless to knock on the door or even leave their name”.

“What kind of low-life narcissist thinks they have the right to tell other people what to do in their backyard,” Ms. Ryan wrote. “How pathetic you must be to spend the time to print this and deliver it to multiple homes.”

Another person who received the letter replied: “Who cares if I turn the lights on early… if you don’t want the Christmas lights to go on early, that’s your choice.”

Others called the writer “fair.”

“Never, ever tell other people what to do with theirs… just respect that others enjoy their lives and can have Christmas decorations all year round if they want.

Most people laughed, saying the letter would motivate them to put up more Christmas decorations, with one mother suggesting; “I would write an answer to the Christmas stations and fill it with glitter and Christmas-themed themes.”

Another user explained that in areas with decorating contests, the deadline for applications is often early November, so they start in October as well.

Christmas “kills the vibe” of Halloween

However, some parents sympathized with the Halloween freak.

“It amazes me that so many people who love Christmas, and I’m assuming the Christmas spirit, would knock someone else’s holiday for a holiday,” one person wrote.

“If this note were to plead with them to let them celebrate Christmas properly, they would all be so angry that they could not celebrate Christmas. It makes me ashamed of their callous, vile and unkind behavior People’s Christmas.”

Another user wrote: “I would never write a note like this but I agree, it kills the Halloween vibe.”

“I hate to see all of Halloween mixed up with Christmas this time of year.”
